Indigenous peoples of the Russian North : ウィキペディア英語版 | Indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East The Indigenous small numbered peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East (Russian: ''коренные малочисленные народы Севера, Сибири и Дальнего Востока'') are indigenous peoples of Russia with each less than 50,000 members, living in the Russian Far North and officially equivalent territories located in the European North of Russia, Siberia.〔() 〕 They are frequently referred as indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North or even indigenous peoples of the North. ==Definition== Today, 40 indigenous peoples are officially recognised as indigenous small-numbered peoples by way of inclusion into the unified register of indigenous small-numbered peoples (единый перечень коренных, малочисленных народов Российкой Федерации). This register includes 46 indigenous peoples (which implies being less than 2.3 million people). The Far North is the part of Russia which lies mainly beyond the Arctic Circle. However, they make up the smaller part of the actual territories inhabited by the indigenous peoples, which extend southwards as far as to Vladivostok.
